The Citadel ended the evening with a tie against Lipscomb University after two sudden death overtime periods. Coach Megan Hjerling noted the strength and endurance of her team.
"Tonight was the first time I saw my team play a solid 90-minutes," stated Hjerling. "We have improved each game and shown strides throughout the season."
Freshman Megan McAuliffe shot the only goal in the match, leading the Bulldog offense. Freshman Julie Austin had five shots, while teammates Shawna Hartman and Lauren Merchant each had three shots on the evening. Freshman goalkeeper Martha Skinner faced thirteen shots in the 110-minute match by the Bison, while tallying five saves.
The Bison's sole goal came from Laura Sudbury from nearly 35 yards while Skinner was away from the goal. Amanda Cost had five shots on the evening with Sarah Hennum shooting three. Goalkeeper Jennifer Brittingham faced 19 total shots in 110 minutes. She marked six saves.
The Bulldogs are back in action at UNC Greensboro on October 20 at 2pm, while the Bison move on to South Carolina State on October 20 at 1pm.
