Olivia Perry-Smith led the women's team with a time of 16:42 and placing 33rd in the team scoring. She bettered her previous 4k time by 15 seconds becoming the fifth fastest female at that distance in school history. Perry-Smith was supported by teammates Manda Orson, Kasey White, Laura Gisinger and Catrina Moore. The ladies finished eighth in the meet held at Winthrop's golf course this past Saturday.
Running without team leader Robert Killian, the men finished fifth out of eight teams at the Winthrop Classic. Leading the team Saturday was Nick Gastley in a time of 19:20 for the 6k course. Gastley finished nineteenth overall followed closely by Marc Quesenberry in 21st with a time of 19:33. Vince Bechtel, coming off an injury was third for the Bulldogs followed by fifth year teammate Brad Perricelli. Finishing in the fifth team position was freshman Matt Power in a very respectable time of 20:48.
The men and women teams are off this weekend as they prepare for the conference championships hosted by the College of Charleston at the Dixie Plantation in Hollywood, SC on November 2.
