Statesboro, GA - Senior Lauren McClain put down 13 kills in a 3-0 (30-12, 30-19, 30-11) win over The Citadel Tuesday night in Hanner Fieldhouse as she hit the 1,000 mark.

The Eagles got back on track as they shutout Southern Conference opponent The Citadel to improve to a 17-7 overall record and 11-1 in league play. The Citadel falls to 6-15 and remains winless in conference play with an 0-11 record.

GSU recorded several season-high hitting percentages as they outhit The Citadel .536 - .031. McClain added two service aces to her stats as she recorded a career-high .706 hitting percentage. Senior Tyra Ciuni and juniors Erin Martin and Martina Veiglova joined McClain with season-highs of .545, .474 and .619 hitting percentages, respectively.

The Citadel was led offensively by junior Desiree Browning with 20 assists. Senior Nicole Mantu led the team with seven kills and freshman Stefanie Farris added six. Mantu also led defensively with seven digs.

Georgia Southern will travel to Boone, N.C. where they will take on Appalachian State, Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 pm. The Citadel hosts Wofford, Friday, October 25 at 7:00 pm.
