Chattanooga Defeats the Bulldogs In Their Last Match

Charleston, SC - In The Citadel's last match of the season, the Chattanooga Mocs overcame a strong effort by the Bulldogs to defeat them in four games, 30-24, 23-30, 30-15, and 30-16.

Kari Krouse led the Mocs with 15 kills on 30 attempts, as teammate Jody Steinberger followed with 14 kills. The Moc defense was led by libero Lindsey Galloway with 27 digs.

In an emotional final match of her college career, senior outside hitter, Nicole Mantu was honored with pre-game roses and a framed jersey for her excellent play. Mantu has been a four-year starter for the Bulldogs, as Coach Anderson's first recruit. She currently holds 12 school records from 1999-2001.

As this year's team captain, she led the team in total attempts with 974, total kills with 311, kills per game with 3.31, digs with 348, and is third on the team with 39 service aces. Nicole's athleticism has given women's athletics at The Citadel a new breath. As she participated in her last match tonight, Mantu contributed to The Citadel charge with 13 kills on 53 attempts and 13 digs.

Mantu's hard work, dedication and determination have sparked a new era in women's athletics at The Citadel. She assumed a leadership role and set a higher standard for her teammates to follow.

Samantha Parisi led with 17 kills on 31 attempts and 14 digs. Parisi also had three block assists. Freshman Amber Davis moved into the second spot for service aces on the season (40) with three aces in the match.

The Mocs finish their season 10-21, 16-14 SoCon, while the Bulldogs fall to 6-24, 0-20 SoCon.
