The Citadel Tennis Team Visits MUSC's Children's Hospital

Dec. 10, 2002

Charleston, SC - The Citadel's tennis team took time away from their normal day of classes and working out to visit kids at the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital in downtown Charleston on Friday, December 6th.

"It is really good for our players and our team to go an visit these kids who are having medical troubles in their life," Citadel head coach Toby Simpson stated. "This visit is not only great for our team but for the kids as well because just maybe we can give them some inspiration in their lives during such a difficult period."

The group of 10 players and two coaches distributed Christmas presents and spent the afternoon playing games and talking with the children. Many of the players raved over their interaction with the kids and what an enjoyable afternoon it was for them.

"To see the looks on the kids faces when we gave them presents was unbelievable," First team All-Southern Conference performer Matt Stubbs stated. "Spending the afternoon with these kids really gives you a bright perspective on life because they have such a positive outlook on everything."

The Citadel's tennis team begins their spring season on January 24 as they take on Tennessee Tech at 2:00 pm in Tennessee.
