Charleston, SC - The Wrestling Mall.com released its updated Division I rankings for teams and individuals on Wednesday. The Citadel's Sean Markey has cracked the top 20. Last week Markey (133) went 4-1 defeating a two-time Southern Conference Champion, a SoCon Outstanding Wrestler, the 2002 SoCon MVP, 13th nationally ranked (Amateur Wrestling News) Travis Drake of Appalachian State University. Markey also beat Alejandro Alvarez of Cornell, a 2002 national qualifier, 12-2. Markey's record is 13-2 on the season.

"Sean Markey has been very consistent all year long and has been beating nationally ranked opponents and national qualifiers and has proven he's ready to compete at the next level," commented Hjerling.

Markey and The Bulldogs are at the Army Quad in West Point, NY Saturday December 8 versus American, Franklin and Marshall and Army.

The most noticeable movement in the individual rankings came in the 197-pound weight class, which saw Nebraska's Justin Ruiz move to the top seed. Former Lehigh No. 1 Jon Trenge fell to fourth place in the poll, while Oklahoma State's Muhammed Lawal and Michigan's Kyle Smith filled in the second and third positions, respectively. Trenge was the only top-ranked wrestler to fall from the No. 1 position in this week's poll.
