If it gets down to crunch time and Citadel coach Pat Dennis needs free throws, he's better off this year as compared to last year.

According to STATS, Inc., the Bulldogs are the No. 8 rated team with regard to improvement from last year to this year on the free throw line.

Led by Travis Cantrell's 90.1 percentage going into Monday night's Southern Conference game with Furman at McAlister Field House, The Citadel has improved .090 percent form a year ago. This year, the Bulldogs are shooting .722 as a team as compared to .632 in 2000-01. Cantrell is second on the all-time free throw percentage list (84.4%) behind Chuck Cordell (1972-74), who completed his career as an 85.0% free throw shooter.

Also helping The Citadel's cause at the charity stripe are Erick Wilson (81.3%), Kenny Milford (80.0%), Michael Joseph (78.9%), Max Mombollet (73.6%) and Clyde Wormley (70.8%).
