Coach Pat Dennis has announced that Dante Terry, a combo guard from First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, VA, and Andrew Worcester, a power forward from River Mill Academy in Saxapahaw, NC, have signed National Letters-of-Intent and will play basketball at The Citadel this fall.
They join Matt Davis, a 6-5, 195-pound sharpshooter from Creekview High in Carrollton, TX, as the Bulldogs' three signees thus far. Dennis still has one additional scholarship remaining.
Terry, a 6-2, 180-pound guard who can play point or shooting guard, led First Colonial High in scoring with 13 points and three assists per outing. First Colonial High, coached by Mark Butts, had a team with balanced scoring that finished 18-7 overall and captured the district tournament.
"Dante gives us a nice-sized combo guard who can play either position," said Dennis, who will begin his 11th season at The Citadel this fall. "He is a skilled athlete who has a wonderful feel for the game.
"His ability to break his man down off the dribble and get his own shot is something we need, and we look forward for him to contribute immediately," Dennis continued.
Terry earned first-team all-district honors in addition to capturing the team's most valuable player award.
Worcester averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots per outing for River Mill Academy, which is located near Burlington. At 6-7 and 225 pounds, Worcester helped Coach Charlie Bryant's River Mill squad to a final 18-9 record and earned all-region honors in the process. He holds the school record in cross-country and also played baseball.
"Andrew brings needed size and strength to our frontcourt," said Dennis. "He is very athletic and versatile, and is someone we wanted badly to help balance our team. Like Dante, Andrew has the potential to help us immediately.
"We think that Dante and Andrew add a great deal to our roster, and I'm pleased that both will be wearing Citadel uniforms this fall."
The Bulldogs finished 17-12 last season and have won 33 games the past two seasons, establishing the second-best two-year mark in school history.
