The Citadel tennis team put up a tough effort against Tennessee on Saturday, January 26th , at the Volunteers' Goodfried Indoor Tennis Center, however, dropping the match 7-0.
After the match, Bulldogs' head coach Toby Simpson gave credit to the Tennessee players and acknowledged the value of testing his squad against an SEC-caliber opponent.
"Tennessee is a good team," Simpson commented. "They're going to be solid, especially at the bottom of the lineup. I'm glad they put us on their schedule because it will just make us better. I think they'll do well this year in the SEC."
Tennessee now holds a 6-0 advantage in the all-time series versus The Citadel, dating back to 1968.
The Bulldogs' next play host to both South Carolina State and Limestone on February 1st beginning at 9:00am and 2:00pm respectively. Admission is free to the matches and fans are encourage to come and root on the Bulldogs.
