Senior center Gregg Jones scored 15 points and grabbed five offensive rebounds to help The Citadel demolish Emmanuel, 88-55, in collegiate basketball action Tuesday night in McAlister Field House.
"Gregg really played well for us tonight and was very active on the offensive glass," Citadel coach Pat Dennis stated. "Kevin Hammack and Kenny Milford played steady games tonight and that will help us in the future with two guys that are comfortable running the point."
Hammack, a freshman from Baltimore, MD continued his strong played as he scored 12 points and added eight assists in 20 minutes of action. Milford, a senior from North Charleston posted five points, five assists and six steals. As a team, The Citadel posted 17 steals, forced 30 turnovers and scored 25 points off of turnovers.
"Defensively, we played very well tonight," Dennis added. "We have been working on our man-to-man defense and our ball pressure for the past week and I feel it is beginning to payoff."
The only other Bulldog in double-figures was junior Erick Wilson who posted 11 points, three assists and two steals. Senior Michael Joseph scored eight points and posted 10 rebounds for his third double-digit rebounding performance of the season.
With the victory The Citadel improves to 5-7 on the season, while Emmanuel falls to 3-10 on the year. Forwards Joey Isaac and Luke Prichard, who scored 18 and 19 points respectively, led Emmanuel offensively.
The Citadel takes to the road this upcoming weekend as they travel to Johnson City, TN to take on East Tennessee State at 4:00 pm in the Memorial Center.
