Greensboro, NC -
Senior LaJean Morrow recorded a school record 24 kills, as the UNC Greensboro volleyball team swept The Citadel, 3-0 (30-10, 30-26, 30-9), Friday evening in Fleming Gymnasium. With the win, UNCG matches last year's win total of seven and improves to 3-5 in the Southern Conference, while the Bulldogs drop to 3-14 on the year and 0-8 in conference play.
"With any team and especially us it's all about what your team is able to do on their side of the net," said head coach Stacy Meadows-Kosciak. "We teach our players to execute each play with pride and precision. Our team definitely needed this win as we prepare for the second half of our conference schedule."
The Spartans opened game one in dominant fashion, opening a 12-2 lead punctuated by a kill from Kim Dayton. A kill by Lindsey Hodge pulled The Citadel to within nine, 15-6, but the Spartans went on a 15-4 run to close the match. UNCG outhit the Bulldogs .324 to -.185 in game one.
Game two proved to be much more competitive with the Spartans jumping out to an early 6-3 lead on a kill from Morrow. The Bulldogs rallied to knot the score, 13-13, prior to taking the lead on an ace by Kim Cooper. The lead would be short-lived however as UNCG retook the lead, 15-14, and pushed the advantage to five, 20-15, following a service ace from Stephanie Elbe. A kill by Lindsey Hodge pulled the Bulldogs to within one, 26-25, but the Spartans would not relinquish the lead en route to the 30-26 game two victory.

The Spartans would then extend their lead to 20-6 on a punishing kill from Lauren Richards. Abbi Meyer and Morrow then highlighted a 10-3 Spartan run to close the match.
