Charleston, SC -
Charleston, SC- Freshman Jessica Lahre netted two goals and posted one assist for the Wildcats to help Davidson (6-7-2, 3-2-2 SoCon) post a 5-0 victory over The Citadel (1-11-1, 0-8 SoCon) in Southern Conference action, October 19, at Washington Light Infantry. The Citadel's senior Rose Rodriguez posted 10 saves.
"We fought hard today," remarked head coach Megan Hjerling. "Naturally, we hoped for a better result, but Davidson came in and played well."
Senior Sara Huber found the back of the net for the Wildcats off a missed block by Bulldog goalkeeper, Rodriguez, 23 minutes into the match. Lahre tallied her first point of the match with a throw-in to classmate Maggie Womack, who slipped the ball just past Rodriguez to end the half 2-0 Davidson.
Lahre notched her first of two goals with a header from senior Leigh Anne Hoskins at 56:22. The duo scored another goal at 64:21 as Lahre volleyed in a cross from Hoskins. With just over three minutes left in the match, freshman Amanda Traver tallied the final goal for Davidson off a deflected shot off the cross bar from Lahre to end the score at 5-0.
The Citadel returns to action October 22 as the Bulldogs travel to Orangeburg, SC to take-on South Carolina State at 6 PM.
