Freshman wrestler John Buck placed first in the 184-pound weight class Saturday afternoon at the Keydet Invitational, an annual open wrestling tournament hosted by VMI. Fellow freshmen Jacob Allman and Nick Leone took home second-place honors at the 149 and 197-pound weight class.
Buck, a native of Fairview, NC, was undefeated in three matches and out grappled Matt Morris of Davidson 3-1 in the championship match to take the title. After earning a bye in the first round, Buck blanked Old Dominion's Rob Valentine 4-0 in round number two and downed Kyle Narkiewicz of UVA 3-2 in the third round to earn the right to wrestle Morris for first-place.

Of the ten Bulldog grapplers who wrestled in the Keydet Invitational, seven finished the day with winning records. Sophomore Mauro Bria, and freshmen Levi Duyn fell just short of placing, but they both record three victories on the day.
