The Citadel volleyball team (6-22; 1-15 SoCon) defeated Savannah State (3-29) 3-0 in the Bulldogs' last home appearance Wednesday night in McAlister Field House. The win marked the team's first back-to back wins since September 1, 2001 when they beat Coppin State twice in two-day tournament.
"They played well and I'm glad that we were able to give our last home crowd of the season, not only a win, but back-to-back wins," head coach Wendy Anderson said.
The Citadel dominated the Tigers outscoring them 30-9; 30-10 and 30-17. Leading the Bulldogs was sophomore outside hitter Samantha Parisi who contributed 12 kills, two service aces, six digs and three block assists. Junior middle blocker Audra Ritchie added 11 kills, two solo blocks and three block assists.
Sophomore Lynn Tyldesley led Savannah State with seven kills, four digs and one solo block.
The Bulldogs will wrap up their season November 14-15 at Appalachian State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at Western Carolina at 2 p.m.
