Charleston, SC -
Citadel seniors achieved a happy milestone on Tuesday. It was their last practice in full pads.
Twelve Citadel seniors will play in their final college football game Saturday at East Tennessee State. For almost all of them, it will be the final game they ever play in.
Receiver Scooter Johnson is slated to play in a Division I-AA all-star game next month. Quarterback Willie Simmons came to The Citadel from Clemson (via Florida A&M) to further his chances at a pro career.
But the Bulldog who seems most likely to continue playing after Saturday's game is Lew Dawson, the 6-6, 265-pound left tackle.
Pro scouts have shown up at Citadel practices all season to check out Dawson. And as his college career winds down, the fifth-year senior is beginning to contemplate the next phase of his life.
