Charleston, SC - Citadel head wrestling coach Rob Hjerling announced Tuesday afternoon the addition of Marc Hoffer to the 2003-04 wrestling coaching staff as a volunteer assistant.

Hoffer, who holds the record for most career wins at American University with 125, was a three-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Champion. He was also the 1999 CAA Wrestler of the Year as a sophomore.

In NCAA competition, Hoffer qualified for Nationals three times and had two top-12 finishes at the NCAA Championships. During his college career, he was ranked as high as fifth nationally among Division I wrestlers.

Hoffer will replace Ryan Lang who is leaving to pursue personal interests.

"We are very happy to have Marc on our staff," stated Hjerling. "He will do a great job for us, but we will definitely miss Ryan because he brought a lot of knowledge and excitement to the mat room."
