The Citadel volleyball team (4-21, 0-14 So Con) was defeated 3-0 in a Tuesday night Southern Conference match against crosstown rival College of Charleston (22-5, 13-1 SoCon) at McAlister Field House.
The Bulldogs got off to a slow start losing the first game 13-30, but picked up the competition ending the second and third games with 21 and 18 points, respectively.
"The College of Charleston is a good team. The girls put up a good fight, but just didn't have what it takes to beat such a competitive team," head coach Wendy Anderson said.
Junior middle blocker Audra Ritchie and outside hitter Stefanie Farris led The Citadel with eight kills apiece. Ritchie added two service aces and two block assists.
Senior outside hitter Alisa Long led the Cougars with eleven kills, three digs, and four block assists.
The College of Charleston is tied for first place in the South division with Georgia Southern.
The Bulldogs will be back at home Friday night against Furman at 7 p.m. and Wofford on Saturday at 2 p.m. in McAlister Field House.
