Women Wrap-Up Fall Season At Edwin Watts/Palmetto Classic

Nov. 5, 2003

Kiawah Island, SC- - Sophomore Kalya Bowsher fired 83-78-76 to finish tied for 48th, as The Citadel women's golf team placed 18th at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. The Citadel wrapped-up the fall season under stormy weather conditions, on the par-72, 5,909 yard Kiawah Island Oak Point course, November 3-4.

"Our final tournament of the fall was a grueling test - facing 27 holes of Kiawah style golf a day, inclement weather and the toughest competition of the year," remarked assistant coach Kimberly Lewellen. "Nevertheless we held our own, navigating the tight fairways, weathering the storm, and competing well. I believe this tournament leaves all of us eagerly looking to the upcoming spring season."

Senior Suzanne Campbell shot 90-96-85 for a three-round 271 total, while sophomore Kelley Thorsen posted a 272 (88-88-96) and junior Mary Nguyen scored 286 (92-93-101).

The women take a few weeks off before preparing for the upcoming spring season, which will begin February 15-17 as the 2004 Golden Panther Women's Golf Championship in Miami, FL.
