Cougars Battle Bulldogs, 6-1

Charleston, SC - The Citadel tennis team fell short against cross-town rival College of Charleston Tuesday afternoon, on February 25th, at the Donald C. Bunch Courts, 6-1.

The Bulldogs (5-4) played many hard-hitting singles matches against the visiting Cougars (4-1). In singles play, Bulldog's lone senior, Lawrence Tere, managed to out hustle his opponent, Liran Kling, 7-6, 0-6, 6-2 in the number three seed. During doubles play, the Bulldogs could not gather a victory from the Cougars dropping all three matches, 8-5, 8-6, 8-6.

"We played an extremely tough match against a good team," Citadel coach Toby Simpson articulated. "The Cougars simply outplayed us this afternoon."

The Bulldogs next match will be March 2, on the road when they take on Georgia Southern at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs will then return home on March 6 to face Gardner-Webb on the Donald C. Bunch Courts at the Earle Tennis Center beginning at 2 p.m. All fans are reminded that free hotdogs will be served and every match is free of charge to the public.
