The Citadel tennis program could not grasp a win against the visiting Illinois State, 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon, March 11, at the Donald C. Bunch Courts.
The Bulldogs (5-8) played hard and extremely tough in all doubles matches against the visiting Redhawks (5-4). In particular, the doubles play of Nick Medica and Lawrence Tere claimed victory against Ciaran Foley and Andy Martin, 8-2. In the singles matches, David Lara played extremely well, outplaying his opponent Ben Cappuccitti, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the number six seed, Warren Woolfolk out scored his foe Emanuael Ponce, 6-2, 6-3.
The Bulldogs next match will be a double header tomorrow, March 12, beginning at 9 am against Hampton then the afternoon match at 2 pm against Radford. The Citadel tennis program will be serving free hot dogs for all spectators in attendance at The Citadel's Donald C. Bunch Courts at the Earle Tennis Center.
