The Citadel tennis program lost to the visiting UNC-Wilmington, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Citadel's Donald C. Bunch Courts at the Earle Tennis Center.
The Citadel Bulldogs (5-6) played UNCW Seahawks (3-4) even in singles play, winning all of the top three seeded matches. In the number one seed, the Citadel's Matt Stubbs outplayed Danilo Mendes, 6-2, 6-2, while in the number two match, John Williams defeated Rahiul Rajklewa, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, the Bulldogs lost two of the possible three matches. Stubbs and Williams managed to gather a win from Mauricio Cabarini and Rajklewa, 8-3.
The Bulldogs next match will be at Chattanooga beginning at noon on Sunday, March 9. The Citadel will travel in hopes to bring back their first victory this season against a SoCon opponent.
