The Citadel traveled to Coastal Carolina last Saturday, April 12, to participate in the Chanticleer Classic held at Myrtle Beach.
"This weekend was a turn-up meet," remarked assistant coach Kris Kut, "for the conference championships held the first weekend in May."
Alexis Gonzalez was the lone Bulldog to capture a gold medal and did so with a 2.90m pole vault. Miriam Crawford's 100m time of 13.12 secured third-place, while Montair Booker (13.26) placed seventh. Monesha Booker (26.85) joined Montair Booker (26.94) and Crawford (27.00) in the 200m to place sixth, eighth, and ninth respectively. Catrina Moore threw the javelin 31.09m and the shot put 11.00m to attain fourth and fifth place respectively.
The 4x100 team consisting of the Booker twins, Kelly Pesterfield, and Rose Rodriguez attained fourth with a time of 51.39.
The Bulldogs will continue to prepare for the Southern Conference Championships May 2-3, with selected top runners qualifying for the Penn Relays April 25-26.
