Charleston, SC -
The Citadel Bulldogs posted a strong showing in only their second two-a-day practice according to third-year head coach Ellis Johnson.
"We had a very good day today and I saw a lot of improvement on the execution side of things," Johnson commented. "We went with only the upper pads today because we could see the guys are starting to drag a little."
The team practiced from 7:30 am to 10 am in the morning and then again from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the afternoon. Today was the first practice the Bulldogs had in the Charleston heat.
"Today was the hottest day of practice we have had and the players really needed it in order to get acclimated," Johnson continued. "The guys seem like they are starting to get 'two-a-day' legs, but overall we saw a lot of improvement on the field today."
The Citadel returns to the practice field tomorrow morning at 8:45 am in its first scrimmage of the 2003 season. The scrimmage will take place in Johnson Hagood Stadium and will be open to the public.
