The Citadel's cross country teams began their 2003 seasons, August 29, at the Roly Poly/College of Charleston Invitational Cross Country Meet held at Dixie Plantation. The women tied for third while the men finished second.

"We are very excited about getting the season underway," commented head coach Jody Huddleston. "It was extremely encouraging and a pleasant surprise to see these results so early in the season."

Newcomer Laura Hewston led the bulldogs as she finished 15th out of 47 runners. Amanda Rawl and Laura Gisinger also ran well for The Citadel.

The cross country teams will return to action, September 5, in Columbia, South Carolina to take part in the USC Invitational.
