Chicago, IL - The Chicago Bears have signed former Citadel defensive end Cliff Washburn to their practice squad, the NFL team announced.

Washburn, 6-5 and 285 pounds, was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent after his first and only season of college football. He was released by the Giants last month after training camp.

Washburn, who started four years for The Citadel's basketball team, tied a school record with 12 sacks last season for the Bulldogs. He also had 56 tackles and a Southern Conference-best 20 tackles for loss.
