Bulldogs Blank Savannah State 3-0

Charleston, SC - Sophomore Samantha Parisi tallied 13 kills to help lead The Citadel to its second win of the season as she helped blank Savannah State 3-0 Tuesday night in NCAA volleyball action. The Bulldogs won all three games with decisive scores of 30-15, 30-12 and 30-17.

The Bulldogs (2-6) had three players mark double digit kills, Parisi had 13, junior Audra Ritchie had 11 and senior Lindsey Hodge recorded 10. Senior setter Desiree Browning averaged 14.3 assists per game totaling 43 for the match.

"I was very pleased with the girls' effort tonight," stated Citadel coach Wendy Anderson. "We have played very well in our last two games and hopefully that will spill over to Thursday's conference opener at the College of Charleston."

Savannah State (0-15) was outmatched from the start only marking 12 kills the entire match. Patricia Ortiz shined with nine assists, five digs and a kill. The loss continues the Tigers winless streak to 15 games on the season.

The Citadel will open Southern Conference play on Thursday as they travel to Lowcountry rival College of Charleston to take on the Cougars at 7:00 pm. The Bulldogs next home match will be held on Friday, September 26, at 7:00 pm in McAlister Field House.
