Adam Carey Named to Tennis Staff

Charleston, SC - The Citadel men's tennis coach Toby Simpson announced Adam Carey as the new assistant tennis coach on Monday, January 12. Carey, a 2003 graduate of the University of Tennessee comes to The Citadel after spending a year on the professional tennis circuit. While on the circuit, Carey achieved a world ranking in both singles and doubles.

During his college career at Tennessee the Queensland, Australia native garnered 2001 and 2003 all-Southeastern Conference honors in both singles and doubles, as well as being named team co-captain and SEC MVP in 2003. He appeared in two final fours and was a finalist in the 2002 NCAA team championship. Carey was named to the NCAA all-Tournament Team three years in a row from 2000-2002.

While coaching, Carey will also pursue a master's degree in Physical Education at The Citadel. Carey will get his first taste of coaching when the Bulldogs take on Clemson on January 17 at the Earle Tennis Center. That match is set for 9am.
