Charleston, SC -
The Citadel men's tennis team took a break from their busy exam schedules to bring Christmas cheer to less fortunate children. The team visited with patients at the MUSC Children's Hospital, spreading holiday cheer for the second year in a row.
The squad played games, gave presents, and spent time with the ailing youngsters. The team also donated items to the hospital.
"This is one of the highlights of our year," said senior Matt Stubbs. "It really helps us keep everything in focus."
In addition to helping out the children, the team's presence gave a much needed break to the parents of the young patients.
"I try to remind our guys just how lucky they are to be college athletes," Stated coach Toby Simpson. "Helping these kids really puts that into perspective for us."
The Dogs return from Christmas furlough on January 11. They will open up the spring season at the Earle Tennis Center on the 17th at 9:00 am against Clemson.
