DAVIDSON, N.C. - An onslaught of goal-scoring by the Davidson women's soccer team at Alumni Stadium Wednesday night gave the Wildcats their third Southern Conference victory in a row as they shut out The Citadel, 12-0. The Bulldogs dropped to 2-10-1 (0-6-1 SoCon) on the season, while the Cats improved to 8-6 (5-1 SoCon).

Davidson junior Kara Koehrn put four goals away in tonight's game, two in each half, jumping to seven on the season. She also recorded an assist on a goal by sophomore Anne Stevens (4), which started the Wildcats' scoring trend just four minutes into the first half.

Sophomore Heidi Wilbrandt (4) sent a shot soaring over Bulldog goalie Angie Ellenwood's head for the Cats' third goal of the night at 20:16, which was followed by another Kara Koehrn goal and one by Nancy Haskell (1) to end the half at 5-0. The Davidson attack didn't let up after the break, as junior Ashley Burgin (2) and senior Stephanie Bouts (1) notched a goal apiece, while sophomore Maggie Womack (2) scored a pair back-to-back at 72:18 and 73:06. Two second-half assists by junior Amanda Traver, as well as Koehrn's third and fourth goals early in the second period, helped round out the Wildcats' dozen on the night.

"We maintained possession well and created a number of scoring opportunities," Davidson head coach Greg Ashton said. "It was nice to see some of our players gaining confidence in front of the goal."

Overall, the Cats outshot The Citadel, 22-7. Wildcat goalie Sarah Hobart, who broke Davidson's all-time record for career minutes played on Oct. 1 against Chattanooga, registered a pair of saves in her 45:00 of play, while freshman Bevin English recorded two and junior Laura Schulenborg notched one.

Next, Davidson hosts Furman in a SoCon match-up this Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m., and the Bulldogs host Wofford Sunday at 2pm at WLI Field.
