Former Citadel standout Cliff Washburn has been allocated by the Chicago Bears to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. Washburn, a 6-5, 285-pound defensive lineman, spent last season on the Bears' practice squad after he was cut by the New York Giants.
Washburn started for four years on the Bulldogs' basketball team before playing one season of college football. He had 12 sacks, 56 tackles and 20 tackles for loss during the 2002 season.
Other Admirals include former Arkansas quarterback Clint Stoerner and ex-Tennessee running back Travis Stephens.
The Admirals are coached by Bart Andrus, a former Tennessee Titans assistant.
