Miami, FL - Miami, FL- Sophomore Kalya Bowsher fired 160 (83-77) to end the first day tied for 22nd, as The Citadel women's golf team completed the first day of the Miccosukee Championships, hosted by Florida International. The Citadel opened the spring season in Miami, FL, on the par-73, 6,099-yard Miccosukee Country Club course, February 16.

"The women performed well in their first day of action," remarked head coach Kimberly Lewellen. "Bowsher hit the ball well and I look forward to solid results from all five ladies tomorrow."

Sophomore Tracey Hancock fired a 163 (84-79) as she tied for 36th, while classmate Kelley Thorsen tied for 55th (88-81-166). Senior Suzanne Campbell shot 174 (87-87) for two rounds and junior Mary Nguyen scored 180 (89-91).

The third and final round of the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 AM, Tuesday, February 17.
