Charleston, SC -
Bulldog freshman Robert Haynie fought back from a two game deficit in the second set and broke service twice in the third set to win his No. 3 singles match over junior Chris Magnone, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 and score the deciding point in The Citadel's 4-3 win over Southern Conference foe UNC-Greensboro. The Spartans (2-6, 1-1 SoCon) took two of the three doubles matches from The Citadel (8-5, 4-0 SoCon) to win the doubles point, but four Bulldogs, including Haynie, won their singles matches to give the Cadets the victory.
In No. 1 doubles, Greensboro seniors Pieter Visser and Julio Moran defeated sophomores David Lara and Warren Woolfolk, 8-6, while Spartan sophomores Greg Levy and Marc Ladouceur downed senior Matt Stubbs and freshman Carl Hocker, 8-2 in the No. 2 match. Bulldog senior John Williams and freshman Robert Haynie secured the Cadets' lone doubles win by beating junior Chris Magnone and freshman Ian Conchar, 8-4 in the No. 3 contest.
In singles action, senior Cadet Matt Stubbs outmatched sophomore Greg Levy in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 on court one, and Stubbs' classmate John Williams beat UNCG sophomore Marc Ladouceur, 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 match.
