Former Bulldog baseball greats T.A. Fulmer, Dallas McPherson, Chris Morris and Britt Reames have all been assigned to minor league teams within their respective organizations.
Fulmer, a 2002 draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, has been assigned to the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League. Since starting the season at the Mariners' High A club, Fulmer has pitched in three games for the 66ers and has a 1-0 record with an ERA of 1.00. He has tallied 21 strikeouts in 18 innings of work.
McPherson, who was a second round pick by the Anaheim Angels in 2001, is batting .222 in 11 games for the Arkansas Travelers of the Double-A Texas League. McPherson, who was a roster invitee to the Angels Spring Training, has one homer and three doubles, while driving in six runs and scoring six.
Morris, a 15th round pick in 2000 by the St. Louis Cardinals, was assigned to the California League's High Desert Mavericks of the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Morris is batting .286 in 15 games for the Brewers' High-A team with one double and 14 base on balls. Morris, The Citadel's all-time stolen base leader, has swiped 15 bases in 19 chances for the Mavericks, while also scoring 10 runs.
Reames, a 1995 17th round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals who signed a free agent contract with the Oakland A's before the 2004 season, has been assigned to the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League. Reames has yet to appear in a game for the River Cats due to an injury.
