Johnson City, TN - Blake Church blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the 13th to lead East Tennessee State over The Citadel 10-7 in a wild extra inning affair Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference baseball action.

The Bulldogs (26-17, 15-5 SoCon) scored one in the first to take a quick 1-0 lead thanks to a RBI-single off the bat of junior second baseman Jon Aughey. With runners on first and second, Aughey blooped a single into right field driving home junior right fielder Josh Stackley from second for the games' first run.

East Tennessee State (24-22, 13-13 SoCon) jumped ahead 3-1 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. After scoring four in the fourth in Friday night's affair, the Bucs used a two-run double by left fielder Stephen Douglas to get on the board. Douglas later scored on a passed ball for ETSU's third run of the inning. The Citadel responded with three runs on four hits in the fifth frame to retake the lead 4-3. Junior catcher Will Coker started the rally with a lead-off homer to right-center field. Coker blasted a 2-1 pitch out to right center for his second round-tripper of the year. After sophomore shortstop Matt Matulia singled, sophomore centerfielder Matt Covington doubled-in Matulia on a double in the left-center gap. Aughey got his second run batted in of the game as he drove-in Covington on an infield single.

In the bottom of the fifth, ETSU plated two runs on two RBI-doubles by catcher Caleb Moore and shortstop Andy Howdeshell giving the Bucs a 5-4 lead with four innings to play.

Covington tied the score at five runs apiece for the Dogs with a RBI-triple in the sixth. Covington laced the ball into the right-center gap allowing Matulia to race home from first on the play.

The Bucs broke the 5-5 tie in ETSU's half of the sixth on a RBI-groundout by center fielder Tim Turner. After leading off the inning with a double, Josiah Glafenhein raced home on Turner's ground ball to second giving ETSU a 6-5 lead.

The Bulldogs plated two in the top of the seventh giving The Citadel a 7-6 lead. Senior left fielder Andy Phillips tied the score at 6-6 with a RBI-single up the middle that drove home Josh Stackley, who single to left to lead off the inning. Cannon, who also reached on a single, raced home from third on a wild pitch giving the Dogs the lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, Moore sent the game into extra innings with a solo homer to left that tied the game at 7-7. The game-tying blast was Moore's seventh home run of the year.

Church's three-run homer was the difference in the ball game as Caleb Moore (2-0) picked up the win with four innings of shutout relief. He surrendered two hits and walked one, but did not allow a run in the four extra frames for his second win of the year.

Cannon, who started the game at first, took the loss dropping his record to 3-2 on the season. He served up the tying run in the ninth on Moore's blast, while also giving up the walk-off homer to Church in the 13th.

The Citadel and East Tennessee State will meet in the final game of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm at Howard Johnson Field.
