Charleston, SC -
The Citadel's women's soccer team, under head coach Megan Hjerling and with Citadel Athletics Director Les Robinson, announced its 2004 fall schedule, this afternoon. The Bulldogs will play 11 home matches including six against Southern Conference opponents and will host the Costco Shootout over Labor Day weekend.
The Citadel opens the 2004 slate with four home matches. The Bulldogs will open the season against High Point and then play host to Akron, Stephen F. Austin and Winthrop during the Costco Soccer Shootout, September 3 and 5. Three days later cross-town rival College of Charleston will visit Johnson Hagood. The Citadel appears at home three more times in September, but not before the Bulldogs travel to Troy State September 12. Late in October the ladies will travel to Elon, Navy and Western Carolina, before returning home to wrap up the regular season against UNC Greensboro, October 31.
"We are very excited about our schedule," noted Hjerling. "It will challenge and allow us to improve as a team and ultimately help us reach our goals. Our spring was extremely positive and I believe we will prove to be competitive in the Southern Conference."
The Citadel's home matches will be played at Washington Light Infantry Field and Johnson Hagood Stadium and will be decided upon at a later date.
