Four Bulldogs Named to I-AA.org Preseason All-SoCon Team

Aug. 28, 2004

Charleston, SC - The Citadel's Ross Armstrong, Nehemiah Broughton, James Wilson and Blake Vandiver were all honored as members of the I-AA.org preseason All-Southern Conference Team, which was announced late Friday afternoon.

Armstrong, a senior tight end, and Broughton, a senior running back, were named to the second team offense, while Wilson, a sophomore defensive end, was listed on the second team offense. Vandiver, a sophomore place kicker, took home second team special teams honors.

Broughton and Vandiver were also listed by I-AA.org as one of the top-five players in the Southern Conference at his respective position. Broughton joined Georgia Southern's Jermaine Austin, Appalachian State's Fred Staton and Alan Atwater, and Furman's Brian Bratton as the league's top runners. Broughton was not only listed as one of the top-five backs in the SoCon, but was also listed by I-AA.org as one of the top-five pro talents in the league.

Vandiver, who connected on 25 PATs in 2003, joined the likes of Elon punter Anthony Turkowski, Wofford's Nick Robinson, Furman's Bo Moore and Elon's Brandon Rawls as the top-five kickers/punters in the SoCon.

Overall, I-AA.org predicted the Bulldogs to finish seventh in the SoCon at season's end.
