Box Score

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel (2-5-1, 0-1-1 SoCon) and ETSU (3-3-1, 0-0-1 SoCon) ended in a double overtime draw with a score of 2-2 Sunday afternoon at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The Bulldogs came extremely close to picking up their first ever conference win.

"It was tough not to get the result," commented head coach Megan Hjerling. "We played hard, but now we have to look to our next game this weekend and hopefully pick up a win there."

The Bulldogs and Buccaneers fought to a 0-0 tie to end the first period. Seven minutes into the second half, the Bulldogs came out on top when junior Miriam Crawford scored the first goal of the game. Senior Shawna Hartman then picked up a ricochet off of the crossbar and put the ball into the net to make the score 2-0.

The Buccaneers finally answered with only 13 minutes left in the second half. Sophomore Emily Fulcher netted the ball for ETSU after a pass from junior Erin Ashton. With only eight minutes to play, junior Erin Ferris crossed the ball which found the foot of freshman Aubree Snyder to tie up the game and send it into overtime.

The Dogs and Buccaneers battled it out to a draw as the rain came pouring down on the field. Coming off of a two game winning streak, the Dogs have not dropped a game in three consecutive matches.

Up next, The Citadel travels to Greenville, SC to take on the Furman Lady Paladins at Eugene E. Stone, III Soccer Stadium on Friday, October 1.
