The Citadel Tennis Hosts Win4Life Clinic

Feb. 16, 2005

Charleston, SC - This past Saturday, the Citadel tennis team had the honor of hosting the Leslie Allen Foundation's Win4Life Program at the Donald C. Bunch tennis courts. Thirty kids from the Charleston area came out to The Citadel campus to participate in the Charleston Win4Life Program sponsored by Family Circle Cup.

The mission of the Leslie Allen Foundation's Win4Life Program is to help young people, through tennis, develop the life skills needed to become successful on and off the tennis courts. The program introduces students, ages 10-18, to opportunities outside their neighborhoods that they may not otherwise get the chance to experience. Win4Life shows kids careers behind the scenes in pro tennis as well as educational opportunities possible through tennis. The Foundation's motto is "Tennis is more that just hitting a ball."

Each session for the students is free of charge and includes a specific life skills seminar, tennis instruction and physical fitness training. Students also learn how to use the Win4Life 4D's : Desire, Determination, Dedication and Discipline.

"We are honored to be chosen to host one of the Win4Life clinics," said head Citadel tennis coach Toby Simpson. "It is always a pleasure to be able to do something like this for the kids and the community."
