The Citadel track and field team traveled to the University of North Carolina Wilmington as the throwers competed in The Cape Fear Classic this past weekend. The Bulldogs went up against VMI, UNCW, Robert Morris, John Carroll, Francis Marion, College of Charleston and UNC Pembroke in various throwing events.
Sophomore Stephanie McNeill performed well over the weekend as she broke two school records. McNeill earned ninth place overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 133'9, smashing the old record by over five feet. McNeill also broke the discus record with a mark of 123'9 and placed eighth in the meet.
For the men, sophomore Zach DiBois finished eighth in the hammer with a personal best toss of 137'7. Sophomore Alex Croskey continued the streak of personal best's with a throw of 42'0 1/2 in the men's shot put, also giving him an eighth place finish. Junior Seth Hooper also set a personal best record in the javelin, beating his previous throw by almost 20 feet.
Next up, The Citadel will head to Greenville, SC to compete at The Furman Invitational on Saturday, April 2. Events are scheduled to begin around 12:30pm.
