Nick Medica Tabbed to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team

The 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III University Division Men's At-Large Team was announced on Thursday. Junior Nick Medica was named to the first Academic All-District III team. The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.

Medica was 8-14 in the 2005 season with a 6-6 Southern Conference record at No. 5 singles for The Citadel. Medica, an Atlanta, GA native, received a Dean's List gold star and has maintained a 4.00 GPA for three years.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program. First team selections will appear on the national ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large team.
