Charleston, SC -
The Citadel's Matt Matulia, a junior shortstop, was tabbed to the 2005 Southern Conference Tournament Team. The team was announced after Furman clinched the championship title with a 5-4 win over Georgia Southern Saturday night at Riley Park.
Matulia was the lone representative for the Bulldogs on the All-Tournament team as the Eustis, FL native batted .333 with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI in four games. Matulia smacked a solo-shot in The Citadel's 8-7 victory over Georgia Southern on Friday and then blasted a two-run jack as the Dogs were eliminated from the SoCon tournament with a 9-7 loss to the College of Charleston. Matulia led the Bulldogs with eight dingers during the regular season and ended with a total of 10 for the year.
SoCon Champion Furman had four players named to the team as well as most outstanding player Nick Holstegge. Georgia Southern had the second most with three.
