Tempe, Ariz. - Former Citadel standout Dallas McPherson, on the 15-day disabled list since July 8, is recovering quickly and should return soon to the Los Angeles Angels' lineup at third base.

McPherson has been in Tempe, Ariz., receiving treatment on inflammation on his left hip. He took ground balls at Angels Stadium on Monday and should resume hitting soon. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said McPherson will probably need a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to the club.

McPherson is batting .244 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs in 61 games this season.
