2005 Soccer Schedule Set

Aug. 1, 2005

Charleston, SC - The Citadel's women's soccer team, under head coach Chris Lenzo and with Citadel Athletics Director Les Robinson, announced its 2005 fall schedule. The Bulldogs will play five home matches including four against Southern Conference opponents.

The Citadel opens the 2005 season in Lexington, VA as the Bulldogs will face VMI. The squad will then continue on the road to take on High Point and South Carolina State. The Citadel's first home match is slated for Saturday, September 3 as the Bulldogs play host to Longwood. The team again hits the road for four matches before opening up conference play against Furman on September 25 in Charleston.

The Citadel will play host to three other conference opponents as they square off against Appalachian State, Davidson, and Elon. The Bulldogs' SoCon road opponents feature trips to Chattanooga, Georgia Southern, Wofford, Western Carolina, College of Charleston, and close the season out at UNC-Greensboro. The women's soccer team's non-conference schedule is featured by a trip to Tallahassee, FL to take on the Seminoles of Florida State.

"I'm really excited about our schedule for the fall," noted head coach Chris Lenzo. "From our first non-conference match against VMI to our last against Florida State we will be playing teams who present a variety of challenges to us."

"The competition in the Southern Conference gets better every year," Lenzo added. "With all the coaching changes in the past two years and the new ideas and energy those changes bring, I expect this season to continue that pattern."

The Citadel's home matches will be played at Washington Light Infantry this season.
