Charleston, SC - Former Citadel second baseman Jon Aughey signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Royals. The 2005 Citadel graduate reported to the Arizona Royals, the club's rookie team, this past week.

During his career as a Bulldog, Aughey posted a .303 batting average with 22 home runs, 147 RBI and 65 stolen bases. He was a member of the 2004 Southern Conference Tournament championship team and the 2002 regular season title team.

A starter as a freshman, Aughey made an assault on the record books in his four years with the squad. He is third all-time in total bases (406), at bats (877) and doubles (56). The Citadel standout is also fifth all-time in runs scored (185) and ninth all-time in home runs (22) and games played (224).
