The Citadel basketball will take on crosstown and Southern Conference rival College of Charleston at John Kresse Arena on Saturday, Jan. 14 for their fourth conference match-up of the season. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Net South.
The Citadel, 6-9 and 0-3 in the SoCon, is in need of a win after a road trip to Davidson on Tuesday extended their losing streak to six games. The Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs at Belk Arena, 85-49.
They then returned to Charleston only to learn on Thursday that senior guard Kevin Hammack will not finish the season and will receive a medical redshirt. Now down three guards, with Vytautas Valiulis and Mark Schiavoni questionable with hand and ankle injuries, the Bulldogs will pull out all the stops to gain a SoCon win against the Cougars.
Expected to lead the Bulldogs on Saturday is senior guard Dante Terry, who is averaging 11.7 points a game. Forward duo J'mel Everhart and Demetrius lead the SoCon in rebounds, averaging 7.7 and 7.5 boards, respectively, while threats in scoring. Nelson averages 11.1 points a game, while Everhart contributes 9.5 points.
