Bulldogs Back on the Road to Take on the Paladins

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel basketball will travel to Greenville, S.C. to take on the Furman Paladins on Saturday, Jan. 21. Tip-off is 4 p.m.

After a couple of close match-ups against the College of Charleston and Wofford, The Citadel (6-11 overall; 0-5 SoCon) is still looking for their first conference win of the season. Losing their last eight games, the Bulldogs hope to pull off a win against the Paladins on Saturday at Timmons Arena.

The Citadel, coming off a 67-52 home loss to Wofford on Monday, is without senior guard Kevin Hammack, who after playing five games this season, will receive a medical redshirt for the 2005-06 season.

Furman (10-6 overall; 4-1 SoCon) won their third consecutive conference match-up on Tuesday at Georgia Southern. The Paladins defeated the Eagles, 66-63, ending their eight-game winning streak and 18-game home winning streak. On Saturday, Furman became the first in the conference to defeat Davidson, snapping their 27-game conference winning streak, the longest in the country. The Paladins, who have only loss two of their last nine games, are currently ranked second in the South Division behind Davidson, who is also 4-1 in the SoCon.

Saturday's game is the 181st meeting between The Citadel and Furman. The Paladins lead the series 103-77. The last time these teams met was on Feb. 7, 2005, when Furman edged the Bulldogs, 63-60, at McAlister Field House.
