Charleston, S.C. After lots of anticipation with a new coaching staff and the resurfacing of former players, the Bulldog Basketball program will get its start to the 2006-07 season when they hit the courts at Deas Hall for their first official practice on Friday.

After going 10-21 overall last season and winning only one regular season conference match-up, a new coaching staff was put into place at The Citadel, led by Ed Conroy, former basketball player for the Bulldogs. The 1989 alum was brought on board in April 2006 and has since been busy hiring his staff, getting to know his team, recruiting and preparing the most exciting schedule Bulldogs basketball fans have seen in several years.

“We are extremely excited to get started. I have been really pleased with the work ethic and focus of our team in the preseason. They have adapted well to our style of play and I look forward to watching them progress,” Conroy said.

The Bulldogs tip-off for the first time on Nov. 2 at McAlister Field House when they take on Georgia Southwestern State in the first of two exhibition games. On Monday, Nov. 6, The Citadel will host “Meet the Bulldogs” following an exhibition game against Lander. Both games are 7:05 p.m.

The regular season tips-off against Ohio Valley on Nov. 10, followed by a road trip to Michigan State on Nov. 12 and Iowa on Nov. 13. The Bulldogs will also be traveling to Notre Dame and Southern Cal on Nov. 19 and 21, respectively, and welcoming South Carolina in McAlister Field House on Nov. 27, followed by Army on Dec. 2 in preparation for their conference schedule which will tip-off on Jan. 3 against Elon.
