The Citadel ranked 12th in the nation and first among the state's Division I-AA football teams in average attendance for 2006, according to NCAA figures.

The Bulldogs averaged 14,599 fans for five home games in 2006, ranking just ahead of No. 13 South Carolina State (14,594) among I-AA teams (now know as Football Championship Subdivision teams). Furman was the only other state team in the top 20 at No. 20 with 12,442 fans per game.

Montana led all Division I-AA teams with 22,600 per game.
