Charleston, S.C. -
The Citadel Bulldogs look to earn their first conference win of the season tonight as they host the Davidson Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. at McAlister Field House.
The Bulldogs (7-17, 0-11 SoCon) are coming off a 96-68 loss at the hands of Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. on Saturday. The Eagles opened the game with a 26-3 run from which The Citadel never recovered. J'mel Everhart and Dante Terry each had 13 points to lead the Bulldogs in defeat.
The Citadel's last game at McAlister Field House was an 80-73 victory over Savannah State on February 7. That win broke a 13-game losing streak for the Bulldogs in front of a raucous group of Cadets on their home floor.
Davidson (14-9, 7-4 SoCon) comes into tonight's contest having lost two of their last three games, including an 84-71 loss to Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday. After having their 27-game conference winning streak snapped in a loss at Furman on January 14, Davidson has gone 5-3.
The Wildcats also saw their 19-game home winning streak snapped by Western Carolina on February 4. Among those 19 wins was an 85-49 victory over The Citadel at Belk Arena on January 10 this season. Ian Johnson led the Wildcats to victory with 16 points while Aaron Xia led the Bulldogs with a then career-high of 12 points.
The Citadel is looking for their first win against Davidson since 2002 as the Wildcats have won the last six meetings, including the last two at McAlister Field House. The Bulldogs last defeated Davidson on December 8, 2002 in a 69-50 victory at McAlister Field House.
