Charleston, S.C. -
The Citadel Athletics Director Les Robinson and the Bulldogs' football program announced the 2006 football schedule on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The 11-game schedule includes match-ups against Big 12's Texas A&M and the University of Pittsburgh of the BIG EAST Conference, as well as three teams that competed in the 2005 NCAA I-AA Tournament, including 2005 National Champion Appalachian State.
"Needless to say that the addition of Pittsburgh is another piece to the puzzle in our efforts to schedule games in all six BCS conferences," Robinson said. "It's a very challenging schedule, but one that I think will help our program in the long run. I know all of the alumni in Texas are very excited about us coming and starting the season down there next year."
The schedule kicks-off with a trip to Klye Field in College Station, Texas, to take on the Aggies on Saturday, Sept. 2. Texas A&M will be kicking off their fourth season with Dennis Franchione at the helm of Aggie football. Under his guidance, Texas A&M went 7-5 during his sophomore season for the seventh best turnaround in college football's history, leading the Aggies to the Cotton Bowl.

"Playing against good competition only enhances our recruiting efforts. We will be the only Division I-AA school that will have played against a school in every BCS conference. I think that speaks well for The Citadel and what we are trying to accomplish here with our football program."
